Who We Are

Al Noor Indian Cuisine, opened by Chef- Mohamed Hanif- an experienced chef for last 20 years.

Mr. Mohammed Hanif, also known as Chef Hanif was born in Old Delhi, India in 1969. He was surrounded by many extraordinary Chefs of the time, and this inspired him to become one as well. Mohammed’s education in cooking began before he was even able to hold a spatula. He grew up in a joined family where he was able to witness his grandfather’s extreme passion for cooking, who told stories of his father and the lineage of chefs coming from his very own family. Mohammed’s grandfather’s amazing abilities were eventually passed down to his son, Mohammed’s father. His father was a very well-known Chef in India, and he was called to display his talent in America for a restaurant in Manhattan. There, he was able to serve many famous celebrities such as Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Dev Anand, Hema Malini, and many others. After being taught by his father, Mohammed then became a master at the art of cooking many Muglia style dishes.
Professional Career……
Mohammed Hanif came to America in 1984, at the age of 14. When he turned 16, he began helping his father in a restaurant in New York City and he became more and more intrigued each and every single day. He became more involved in the restaurant and eventually started working part time. As Mohammed grew older he moved from working part time to full time, but not as a Chef just yet. He worked very hard and word spread about Hanif’s cooking, and he was finally offered a job as a chef at the restaurant Tamarind in Manhattan. He worked there for a few years and was then called by Bay Leaf restaurant to work as a Chef. By now his fame started to roar and many restaurants in Manhattan knew whom Chef Hanif was, thanks to his style in Muglia cuisine becoming a huge success. After three long years working Bay Leaf and peoples high demand of him to open a restaurant of his own, he finally opened his restaurant, Al- Noor.
Practical Life……
Chef Hanif got married in 1992 and had two kids, a girl and a boy. His daughter who 16 years old helps him running the restaurant and while Mohammed is working in the kitchen, his wife Farzana takes care of the front desk. This restaurant is run by a family and the main goal is to make the customers feel right at home being greeted with a smile when walking through the front doors of Al-Noor.
